Rolex
makes almost one million watches each year and sells
them all, year after year. The manufacture is also
one of the most innovative, recognizable and prestigious
brands. Annual surveys of the most widely recognized
and admired brands inevitably show Rolex as a top
brand among all product categories. The Rolex Oyster
model was the first truly waterproof watch. Rolexes
can take daily wear and abuse for years and remain
accurate and great looking. Add to this the fact
that Rolex watches keep their value (or even appreciate
in value) over many years, and you have the recipe
for a successful watch brand. There is nothing else
like a Rolex.
Rolex's top models are the Datejust, Submariner and Daytona. If you can only afford, or only want one watch to wear every day, a Rolex is your best choice in my opinion.
Important note for USA Rolex buyers: because of strict trademark controls by Rolex USA, many Rolexes imported into the US from abroad are seized by US Customs. I strongly recommend that if you live in the USA and you want to purchase a Rolex, that you only purchase from a domestic dealer. I fully endorse all of the Rolex dealers that you will find on Watchfinder.net.
To learn more about Rolex watches, I recommend a visit to the Timezone Rolex Forum, and to NewTurfers where you will find lots of information about Rolex and other brands. If you read German, there is an excellent German Rolex Forum. Ditto for Italian: my friend Simone recommends Orologipassioni. A nice reference guide to historical Rolex models, which allows you to see the iteration of Rolex models through the years, is WatchKiller. Two great collector's sites are Hanne's Oysterworld and Jocke's pictures page
